YOUNGSTERS enjoyed the chance for a sneak preview of the latest project in a £300,000 Teenzone initiative.
Work to refurbish the Every Street ball park in the Trinity area of Burnley, under the scheme run by Burnley Council, is due to begin next week.
And local children gave it the thumbs up during the launch.
Under the Teenzone scheme the authority plans to create facilities for youngsters aged from 11 up to 20-years-old and ranging from multi-purpose ball courts to skateboard ramps, youth shelters and agility equipment.
Work to improve Abel Street ball court in, Daneshouse, is almost complete.
Burnley Council's park development manager Robin Gray, said: "The difference to Abel Street is amazing. The first phase at Every Street is to refurbish the fence. We're also hoping to put in more equipment. We're also employing a ranger to help organise minor leagues across town so that young people from different parts of Burnley can compete."
The scheme is a response to the council's task force report produced as a response to last summer's disturbances.
Chris Pukett, director of networking at Towneley High School, which sits on the task force's education panel, said: "We can't thank the council enough. They've really listened to young people who are really positive when they see some action being taken."
Towneley student Daniel Jolly, 13, said: "I think it's really good as people will have a lot more things to do."
