PLANS are under way for Ribchester residents to celebrate The Queen's Golden Jubilee in style.
A whole host of activities has been planned for June 3, starting with a Jubilee market, which will run from 9am to 2pm. At 2pm, the festivities will move on to the recreation ground where there will be children's activities and races as well as the local cricket, tennis and football clubs competing against each other in various events.
There will also be tile painting with Golden Jubilee stencils, as well as a performance by the Ribchester Ravers.
From 5-7pm there will be a children's entertainer and hog roast at the Black Bull and, from 8pm, a live band in the pub's car park.
The church beacon will be lit at St Wilfrid's Church at 10.30pm, and followed by a firework display.
Raffle tickets to win six meals out are on sale in the village in a bid to raise funds for the day and cost £1 a book. The parish council will also be contributing towards the cost.
It is also hoped to buy new bunting for the occasion and to plant an English Oak tree to commemorate the jubilee.
