CLARETS boss Stan Ternent is ready to help out his former club Bury with the offer of a friendly match at the end of the season.
The cash-strapped Shakers recently received a stay of execution amid fears fears that the 117-year-old club was going to be wound up by the High Court.
Supporters of clubs across the country have dug deep to help them out and now Ternent, manager at Gigg Lane from 1995 to 1998, is keen to do what he can to help.
The Burnley manager led them from the third to the first division, winning back to back promotions and there are strong links between the two clubs as Lennie Johnrose, Tony Ellis, Dean West, Ronnie Jepson and Gordon Armstrong were all players at Gigg Lane.
Shakers manager Andy Preece recently put their entire squad on the transfer list as they bid to clear the £400,000 debt that weighs so heavily on them.
A club spokesman said: "Stan was at Bury for three years and he wants to do something for them.
"He had the idea of playing a friendly, but that would not happen until the end of the season."
