I WOULD support your petition to keep open the 35 county council homes for the elderly in danger of closing, if someone can tell me how on earth they can be funded in the future.
I understand that from April the LCC homes are to be run on a par with private homes: that is, inspected to the same standards and funded to the same fee structure.
As the hourly fee for private homes are as low as £1.40 per hour per resident how does this equate with the running costs of the LCC homes? The sums just don't add up.
This is in addition to the repairs LCC must fund to bring their homes up to standard.
Name and address received.
