A HASLINGDEN man has died following a fall in hospital.
Donald Alexander, 87, of St James Close died in Burnley General Hospital on Thursday after being transferred from Rossendale General Hospital.
At an inquest in Burnley yesterday coroner's officer PC Bob Alexander told Acting East Lancashire Coroner Richard Taylor that Mr Alexander was a patient in Rossendale General and that he had a fall there on March 17.
He was transferred to Burnley where a CT scan revealed bleeding. His condition deteriorated and he died at 6pm on the 21st.
PC Wilson said a post mortem examination was carried out by Dr WD Salman who gave cause of death as a subdural haematoma, bleeding in the brain, due to a fall.
He added that evidence of identification had been provided by Mr Alexander's son, Colin, of Ramsbottom.
The hearing was adjourned for further inquiries.
