Your secret is 'fine' with me Spudley!

I've just realised that I have probably given myself too much bad publicity regarding an unfortunate own goal I scored last November.

I promise I won't mention it again, obviously after this brief tale.

Because on Saturday I managed to make it down to Pleasington for two consecutive weekends (don't tell the boss or they'll be cutting my hours) to play for the mighty Ivy Hotel.

Anyway, we recorded a long awaited and hard fought 5-4 victory against Rileys.

After staggering back in to the changing rooms -- I forget matches lasted 90 minutes as it was that long since I played a full game -- I told Jim Howarth our good news.

"Did you score an own goal?" came the reply.

I was too tired to answer.

Then on the way out I bumped in to Kings Inn manager Graham Shackleton and again I told him we won 5-4.

"Any own goals this week Steve," he quizzed.

I've scored one own goal all season.

But I suppose the amount of times I have mention it, it seems more like TEN!

The good thing about joining up with the lads is the funny little tales you pick up.

Most, unfortunately are unprintable!

This one however, walked straight up to me in the pub before the game.

Adam 'Spud' Slinger came in and announced to everyone that we had received another fine.

"You know that £7 we paid last week," he said. ""Well, now we've got another one. I think it is because the first fine we paid was late."

Thinking we were all going to have to dig deep in to our pockets to pay up, the pub fell silent.

However, it wasn't until closer examination that the new fine appeared to be nothing more than a receipt for the old fine!

Nice one Spud!
