POLICE chasing a thief who stole a sports car and then ran off when it crashed renewed their appeal today for information.
Officers from Accrington police continue to investigate the incident which occurred between 10.20pm and 11.50pm on Sunday, December 16.
The thief made off with the high-powered silver coloured BMW Z3 sports car despite the fact it was locked and alarmed from outside the Opium nightclub in Willow Street, Accrington.
The vehicle then crashed at the junction of Paradise Street and Church Street in the town. The BMW was badly damaged in the crash and two occupants were spotted running away from the scene.
The thief is described as an Asian male, in his mid-20s, 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build, with short dark hair, long sideburns and clean shaven. He was wearing a woollen hat, black donkey jacket, black jeans or trousers and brown shoes.
Police do not have a description of the passenger.
