TWO ambulancemen who helped rescue a climber after he plunged more than 35ft from a rock face have been commended for their efforts.
Clitheroe ambulance station-based paramedic Derek Walsh and technician Mark Adamson were on the scene near to the Inn at Whitewell in the Trough of Bowland for two hours before taking the Blackpool man, who has not been named, to the Royal Preston Hospital.
They were assisted by a local farmer who helped rescue the man using his Land Rover and quad bike.
The man, who had fallen into a river, suffered a fractured leg, injuries to both hips and hypothermia in the fall.
Thirty members of the Bowland Pennine mountain rescue team and an emergency doctor were also called to the scene.
