LANCASTER City Council's Tourism Service's hard work and commitment has been recognised by an award from the resort's Hotels and Tourism Association.
At the Annual General Meeting of the Association, held at the Glenthorn Hotel in Morecambe on Wednesday 13 March, the Maxwell Bicker Award for Outstanding Services to Tourism in the resort was presented to the Council's Tourism Service.
The award is presented annually and Chairman of the Hotels and Tourism Association, Jim Catterall, stressed that the award was to recognise the hard work and commitment to tourism in the District by every one of the Tourism Service's staff.
Mr Catterall said: "The Executive Committee agreed unanimously that the Council's Tourism Service were worthy recipients.
It was given in recognition of the outstanding work done by all the staff, their continuing dedication to getting things right and all round provision of an excellent service.
We were particularly impressed at the way officers worked to pull together arrangements for last year's Punk Festival and the way in which they successfully fought to get Morecambe recognised as an area affected by Foot and Mouth."
