CHORLEY Lynx take a break from Northern Ford Premiership action for the next five games as they take part in the National League Cup.
This is a new competition for the Northern Ford Premiership clubs and will be fought out at the start on a mini league basis with Lynx coming up against Barrow, Whitehaven, Workington, at home and Leigh and Swinton away.
The top two in each league plus the best two clubs from the rest will then progress to the quarter-finals. Lynx kick off the competition tomorrow when Barrow visit Victory Park, kick off 3pm.
Lynx will be looking to end a run of six successive defeats, their last one coming against Dewsbury Rams in a game that Lynx could have won but for the usual crop of mistakes which presented Dewsbury with easy try scoring opportunities.
The major doubt for coach Graeme West is scrum half Craig Robinson, who damaged a hamstring against Dewsbury.
If he fails to recover ex-Gateshead scrum half martin Gambles could come into contention, also Liam Jones, who has missed the last few games with an ankle injury could be fit to return to action.
Barrow come into the competition in poor form, after a promising start to the season their form has tailed away badly and they currently stand just two places above Lynx in the league table.
Last weekend they suffered a 44-36 reversal at Batley after being 38-0 down at half time.
They too have injury problems with forwards Dave Clark and Ian Rawlinson likely to miss the game with niggling injuries.
Despite their current poor form Barrow still possess potential match-winners like half backs Cliff Beverley, Darren Holt, while second row forward Geoff Luxon is always a threat with his strong running.
CHORLEY LYNX: Watts, Wilcock, Ramsdale, Kilgannon, Cross, Patel, Robinson, Street, Roden, Grundy, Causey, Prescott, Bloor, Jones, Bellamy, Hamilton, Smith, Parry, Killock, Stuart, Redicliffe.
