REGARDING Blackburn with Darwen (LET, March 19), doesI'd like to ask if the council deliberately set out to be controversial.
We had this issue last year and after the furore that arose at the time, you'd think that the same thing wouldn't happen again -- ever! Yet here we are again, beautiful flowers being mown down for no good reason at all.
Good on the ladies of Mayfield Flats for defending the flowers. As a Darwener from that end of town, I see the daffodils daily and they are lovely -- better each year -- but then they haven't been mown down in previous years until after the flowering season.
Does the person who issues the instructions to the workmen have any gardening knowledge? If so, he/she should know to leave our daffodils alone.
GLENYS COLLING (Mrs), Knowlesly Road, Darwen.
