With four wins in their last five games - including Wednesday night's win over local rivals Colne - the Blues have shot up the table and now only have Darwen to overtake.
"We have got to set ourselves targets and so we want to finish above the other local sides and in the top six," said boss John Bailey. "We haven't finished out of the top six for the last three seasons so we want to do that again."
Nelson travel to second placed Alsager tomorrow and welcome Cheadle to Victoria Park on Monday.
And Bailey will be hoping Carl Howarth continues his recent goal spree which has seen him score five goals in the last four matches.
"He is just the man at the moment," said the Blues chief.
Bailey is hoping to sign a former UniBond midfielder before the transfer deadline this weekend while he has Mark Robinson and Kieron Roberts out tomorrow. Winger Lee Coldridge returns from holiday.
