BURY have spent just 12 of their 117 years in the Football League in the basement division but their failure to win their Easter fixtures will almost certainly consign them to the lowest reaches once again.

Today they travelled to the Sixfields Stadium, Northampton, where the home side were level on points with Bury.

On Easter Monday Gigg Lane sees the visit of high flying Brentford. Shakers boss Andy Preece was livid yesterday following the cut price forced sale of 21-year-old Jason Jarrett to Wigan for a paltry £75,000 but the decision was taken out of his hands by the club's administrators.

And Shakers supporters breathed a sign of relief that there were no more outgoing transfers.

Preece has, however, signed Blackpool's Phil Clarkson as a midfield replacement until the end of the season. Sam Collins, Paul Reid and Danny Swailes were available today but will be suspended for the visit of Brentford, and though Matthew Barrass, Baichung Bhutia and Chris Billy have all made reserve appearances this week following long lay offs, none would be expected to gain a first team berth.
