AFTER having some new fencing installed and having to ask the fencing firm to return in order to make good the unsatisfactory work, I thought that instead of the Yellow Pages telephone directory it would prove helpful to have a 'Black Pages' listing the bad workmen (and women) who do not complete or make good the jobs they have been paid to do.

I realise the Yellow Pages do not recommend the firms which advertise, but, somehow, you feel if they are in the directory that, hopefully, they are reliable.

The firm we used stated 'all work guaranteed.' The work was done last September/October. The firm came back to see us and agreed the work wasn't as it should be and we were told they would return to put it right.

We are still waiting four months on.

The next step is the Small Claims Court, then blacklist the firm to anyone who cares to listen.

How much easier it would be to have had a good reliable job done in the first place. Am I asking for the moon? No, just a good day's work for a fair day's pay.
