A GREAT Harwood fundraiser who wants to raise pounds by losing pounds is well on his weigh to reaching his target!
Paul Dunn, 41, of Green Hill, Great Harwood, cooked up the idea of a sponsored slim to help raise cash for the Great Harwood Royal British Legion and the town's new Jubilee Centre.
He is now halfway towards his three-month deadline and is on target to reach his goal of losing at least two stones.
At his halfway weigh-in Paul, a security officer at Clayton Park Industrial Estate, was delighted to discover he had lost 21 pounds.
He said: "I have been a big lad for years and it's just a case of trying to cut down. I was more or less under orders to lose weight from the doctor so I thought I might as well do it for charity.
"And now that I've got this far the doctor has told me I will soon be able to introduce treats to my healthy eating plan once a week."
The biggest sacrifice for Paul, who weighed in at 21 stones before beginning the sponsored slim, has been giving up his beer and favourite Chinese take-aways but he says the results are worth it and he is feeling the benefits every day.
So far he has around £250 in sponsorship but forms are still available in local shops in the town.
