POLICE have released the name of an 11-year-old boy who died eight days after being struck by two cars on the Rawtenstall to Edenfield bypass.
Emmanuel Thomas Gerald McConnell had been living in a private children's home in Cherry Crescent, Rawtenstall, but was originally from Ireland.
His parents were at his bedside when he died at 4.15pm on Thursday in the intensive care unit at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital in Pendlebury.
Calls have been renewed for a footbridge to cross the busy dual carriageway following the accident.
