TV CHEF Andrew Nutter has found himself in hot water after being banned from driving for a month when he admitted an insurance charge.

The restaurateur lent his BMW Z3 Roadster to an 18-year-old chef who was later caught speeding at 50mph in a 30mph zone on Edenfield Road, Edenfield, a court was told. The celebrity cook appeared at Rochdale Magistrates court where he admitted using a motor vehicle without insurance because the teenage driver, who is a chef at the Nutter's restaurant, Edenfield, was not covered.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 30 days and fined him £300 with £25 costs after hearing he already had six points on his licence.

Now his black sports car - registration A1 NUTT - lies dormant in the garage. The chef said he would be going to work on a bicycle or on foot. "I would always stand by the rules and have definitely learnt my lesson the hard way. I tried to use the bicycle the other day but it was punctured so I had to walk."

"The driver had only just passed his test and had been forking out for taxis for ages so I thought he would be fine to use the car as I am fully insured. I don't think I am the only one who does not really understand about insurance and who or what is covered. It was my responsibility when I loaned the car to find out what insurance the other person had."

This is the second time the TV celebrity has been banned.

He said: "Driving and me just aren't a good combination."

Andrew will be coming face to face with Anne Robinson when he appears on The Weakest Link Celebrity Chef Special on BBC1 at 6.15pm tomorrow.
