MOHAMMED Younis ended up being arrested after an argument with his wife over who should wash the dishes.

Blackburn magistrates heard that the domestic argument escalated out of all proportion and ended with Younis being arrested.

Younis, 30, of Whitehead Street, Blackburn, admitted a breach of the peace and was bound over in the sum £50 to keep the peace for six months.

Peter Wild, prosecuting, said the police were called to the family home by the defendant's wife.

She complained that when she asked him to wash some utensils he had thrown them across the room and threatened to hit her.

Roger Pickles, defending, said the whole matter had started as a row over the washing up.

"He was filling in a driving licence application and she was doing the washing-up," said Mr Pickles.

"She thought it was his turn to do the dishes, he was busy. Voices were raised, tempers flared and the police were called."

He said Younis was not planning to go home for a couple of days to let things calm down.
