REGARDING Blackburn with Darwen Council once again mowing down daffodils just before flowering (LET, March 11), no wonder the town didn't get city status -- they have their priorities wrong.
It's a pity they don't employ the workmen to tidy up the numerous grot spots in the town and helping to make the countryside more attractive for everyone to enjoy.
A six-week period without mowing is nothing compared to the pleasure the flowers give when they bloom.
ANNE KIRMAN, Oswaldtwistle.
