RESIDENTS who worked hard to brighten up their area can see their success day and night.
Members of the Nangreaves Residents' Association spent two years trying to bring extra street lighting into Mount Pleasant.
They succeeded in gaining Kickstart funding from the local area board, but more money had to be found for Victorian-style lanterns, as Mount Pleasant is a conservation area.
Councillor Trevor Holt, Bury East area board chairman, said the lights were a testament to people's hard work.
"Numerous obstacles had to be overcome, but the result is a brighter and safer part of East Bury. That is something which has been achieved by everyone, residents, councillors and officers, working together for the good of the community."
