AN inquest has been opened into the unexplained death of a ten-month-old Radcliffe baby.
Bury District Coroner Barrie Williams was told the cause of death of Connor Peter Delve, of Jubilee Avenue, had not yet been ascertained.
But a police inquiry had concluded that there was no evidence of third party involvement in Connor's death.
The hearing was told the toddler's age put him outside the range in which the sudden infant death syndrome, sometimes known as cot death, is known to occur. Other possible medical causes are being looked into.
Evidence of identification was provided by Connor's mother, Kathleen, at Pendlebury Children's Hospital where a post-mortem was carried out by a Home Office pathologist and a paediatric pathologist.
Connor had been taken to Fairfield Hospital's accident and emergency unit in a collapsed state on March 15 where he was pronounced dead and later transferred to Pendlebury.
Mr Williams adjourned the hearing to a future date pending the outcome of further medical tests.
