POLICE have named a Blackpool teenage cyclist who died in a fatal road collision near Shard Bridge, Hambleton on Wednesday.
Jonathon Robertson, 16, of Foxdale Avenue, Blackpool suffered serious head injuries after a collision on Shard Lane at about 6.40pm on March 27 with a Ford Fiesta driven by a 21-year-old man from Stalmine, who has not been named.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said the teenager was cycling along Shard Lane with a friend when the collision occurred.
"The two had become separated and it appears that the youngster had gone back into the carriageway to actually join his friend and it is suspected that he had failed to see a Ford Fiesta being driven by a Stalmine person.
"The Fiesta collided with the cycle and the rider, carrying him some distance on the bonnet and he sustained fatal injuries during the collision."
He added that the road was closed for several hours to allow collision investigators to gather evidence from the scene.
