GOALKEEPER Darryl Sloane stood between bottom club Great Harwood and a heavy defeat at Woodley in the NWCL Division One.
A string of fine saves, and one from a penalty, ensured his side had a chance, though they failed to make the most of late opportunities.
"Our best player was easily the keeper," said Great Harwood boss Denis Underwood.
"He stopped a penalty and pulled off a load of other stops and it was only because of him that we had a fighting chance when we went forward in the last 15 minutes.
"I was disappointed because it wasn't a great performance, but also that we didn't get something for our efforts late on."
Woodley bagged their goal on the half hour when their striker was given too much time to finish after a cross was not cleared.
But at the death Neil Baron, Shaun Bursnell and Graham Lightbowne all went close to snatching a point.
