CONTROVERSIAL posters advertising cult comedian Ali G's debut film have been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority.
As reported last week, the tasteless image of Ali G with his hand resting on a naked woman's bottom caused a stir among the business community of Whitefield.
Ladies dress shop owner Mrs Celia Aaron claimed the poster outside her business in Bury Old Road was "obscene" and had upset some of her female customers.
After receiving 109 written complaints, the ASA this week ordered United International Pictures to withdraw the poster on the grounds that it was offensive.
Some had even complained it was pornographic.
ASA director general Christopher Graham said: "This poster clearly caused serious offence to many who saw it and we have acted promptly to ensure that the image is taken down and stays down."
