REGARDING your 'Friday Jury' article (LET, March 22) about Blackburn with Darwen Council workmen mowing down the daffodils, I live near the large area of grassland opposite Our Lady and St John's High School, in Blackburn.
Last year, just as the mayflowers were in bloom, carpeting the area with their delicate mauve flowers, council workmen mowed them down.
I hope they have not all been destroyed, but bloom again this year. But it occurs to me that I would not have complained if dandelions or daisies had been culled.
C DEAN (Mr), Borrowdale Avenue, Blackburn.
