IF the people of Blackburn had to wait for their piece of sculpture (LET, March 26) as long as we in Darwen have been waiting for ours, then they would have something to moan about.
The empty pedestal at the bus station, in Darwen town centre, has been in place for nearly 12 months. At present it is used for seating, a rubbish dump and a canvas for grafitti.
So can Councillor Ashley Whalley tell Darweners if two of the sculptures for Church Street, Blackburn, are ready to put in place, then why is Darwen's not ready, especially as it is a fraction of the total cost of Blackburn's?
I could probably answer my own question by saying that, yet again, Darwen takes second place to Blackburn, as in lots of other instances.
P GARSDEN (Mrs), Sarah Street, Darwen.
