HOPES remain high that India's scheduled tour of Pakistan will go ahead in April next year despite current political unrest.
A delegation to Pakistan led by Indian Olympic Association president Suresh Kalmadi have returned home pledging their backing for the tour.
"I am confident India will undertake its tour of Pakistan in April next year which is part of the ICC calendar," said Kalmadi.
"We feel we can't let the ups and downs in our relations upset sporting ties. Sport must always go on."
Kalmadi described his discussions with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCFB) chairman Tauquir Zia as constructive.
"I will pass on all the information to the (Indian) sports minister, Uma Bharati, as well as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, Jagmohan Dalmiya, and it's up to them to arrive at a decision," added Kalmadi.
But India's apparent reluctance to commit to the tour has angered Pakistan.
Foreign Office spokesman Aziz Ashmed said: "We don't want to play cricket with India if they don't want to play with us."
