CHARITIES, schools and individuals have been invited to take part in this year's annual Darwen Tower Trudge.
The event had to be cancelled last year because of foot and mouth so this year organisers are hoping to boost entry levels.
People of all ages and abilities are being encouraged to get involved in the twelfth annual trek.
The event is held to raise funds for charity and to bring people from all over the area together to have a fun day out for all the family. The last event raised more than £5,000.
It is organised and planned out by Darwen Rotary Club who arrange first aid cover by Bolton Mountain Rescue.
The walk will start from Sunnyhurst Wood Kiosk at 9.30am going through Darwen Moors, Tockholes and back to the kiosk.
Each young entrant completing the eight-mile course will receive a certificate for their achievements on the day.
The entrance fee is £2 per adult and £1 per child. Dogs are also invited on the trudge but owners are asked to keep them on a lead.
