IN response to county council leader Hazel Harding's comments suggesting that a lot of old people would prefer to live in their own homes with daily help, I point out the case of a friend of mine in the Ebor House home, in Burnley.
I have never seen him more contented, with more security and able to sleep at nights. He has lost both legs, but is still contented.
Before that he lived at Airdrie Crescent, Burnley and at the time still had one leg.
I believe a nurse came twice a day for this insulin injections, but at night when he was alone he was plagued by young vandals smashing his windows, throwing stones and hammering on his door into the night.
Does County Councillor Harding not think what people living alone may have to endure at night when the young yobs decide to have their so-called fun?
I live in sheltered accommodation and feel quite safe and secure, but Coun Harding wants to put a little more thought into her crackpot plans.
