Preston College student Keely Watt, from New Longton has made it through to England U19 team.
Having been introduced to lacrosse at Penwortham Girls High, Keely joined Timperley Lacrosse Club (Altrincham) more than two years ago.
Following the territorial tournament in January Keely received an invitation from the Senior England coach, Louis Richardson, to attend a Senior England training session. The objective of these sessions was to look forward to the 2005 World Championships in the US.
Before the England Senior Training and Junior Trials she went to Club La Santa, Lanzarote, taking part in warm weather training with Preston College.
She then spent a weekend at the senior training were she met and played with many of the England squad and was advised and encouraged by England coach Louis Richardson and captain Sarah Butt, (the Sven Erikson and David Beckham of lacrosse)
The next weekend was two hard days of trials for England U-19's. Keely was rewarded with a place in England 'B'.
Two weeks later on her the U-19's international debut game Keely helped England beat Wales by scoring a hatrick.
Following on from this Keely has now been invited to attend Senior England trials at High Wycombe and Rickmansworth at the weekend.
