THE chairman of the Countryside Agency is to visit the Ribble Valley next week to look at the work of the Clitheroe the Future regeneration project.

Ewan Cameron has chosen Clitheroe from five Lancashire towns currently taking part in the Market Town Initiative, organised by the Countryside Agency.

He will look at the town's bus and rail interchange before visiting the Trinity Community Partnership in Wesleyan Row during his whistle-stop tour on Tuesday.

Richard Jackson, from

Clitheroe the Future said: "We are delighted Ewan has chosen to visit us. He is keen to look at all aspects of our work so far, but is particularly interested in our plans for rural transport."

Clitheroe the Future was set up in April last year and is part-funded by the Countryside Agency's Regeneration Initiative, Ribble Valley Borough Council, Clitheroe Town Council and the Longridge Partnership, as well as receiving private funding.

Richard, who recently handed over the reigns as regeneration officer to Andrew Swarbrick, has stayed on in advisory post.

His role includes co-ordinating and developing participation in the Countryside Agency's Market Town Initiative programme and to develop local and regional networks and partnerships by prioritising contact with several Ribble Valley partnership working groups.

These include Ribble Valley Regeneration Partnership, and the Longridge and Whalley Partnerships, as well as Ribble Valley Borough Council and the Trinity Community Partnership.
