GILLINGHAM may seem to have little to play for but the Clarets should beware.

The Gills reached the 60-point return that manager Andy Hessenthaler had set for them with their 1-0 home win over Crewe last weekend, but the Priestfield boss will not let his side rest.

And 21-year-old striker Marlon King, whose match-winning penalty took him to 20 goals for the season, guessed that a new standard would be set for them to achieve over their final three matches.

King said: "I would say the boss will be pushing us to get 65 points.

"He wouldn't want to put too much pressure on the boys, but 65 would be nice.

"That would be a good ratio for any team in any league. We haven't spent much money on players and the boys have dug in and done brilliantly."

Former Barnet front-runner King has really made his mark this term.

He ended last season with a tally of 12 League and cup goals from his 32 Gills outings, but this term he has taken off with 46 League and cup appearances bringing 20 goals - and he is justifiably happy.

"I have got 20 goals but it could have been more - perhaps should have been more," said King.

"As you play more games the more experienced you become and that's what I'm doing at the moment."

And the Gills will be looking to extend a good run against Clarets having not suffered a defeat at the Turf Moor club's hands in the last nine meetings.
