A MEMORIAL service in honour of the Queen Mother will be held on Sunday at Atherton Parish Church of St John the Baptist.
The Rev Bill Baldwin, who will lead the tribute, stresses the service is open to everyone, whatever denomination.
Messages of condolensce may also be written in books which are at the Town Halls in Leigh and Wigan. As a mark of respect flags are flying at half mast on the borough's civic buildings.
