PADIHAM boss Graham Howarth says his side have 'nothing to lose' going into the NWCL second division clash with leaders Stand tomorrow.

The Storks have nothing to play for whereas neighbours Stand are chasing the title.

"I would be disappointed if the players weren't up for a game like this," said Howarth.

"We have nothing to lose, we are not expected to win so we might try a few different things and throw some of the younger players in maybe."

Padiham's young reserve side have done well this season and many have been pushing for a first team berth.

Howarth threw young keeper Andrew Kirk into the fray in the Easter Monday game against Formby.

They lost 4-0 but Howarth praised the young player.

"He did alright and he may play again tomorrow if Kirk Marsden isn't fit."

Ian Pilkington is also a major doubt for tomorrow's game. He has bruised ribs.

"We looked the better side in the first half against Formby, we looked more likely to score but in the second half we were rubbish," said Howarth, whose side play Stand for the first time this season tomorrow.

"I haven't seen them play so we won't know what to expect, but we are in a no lose situation."

Stand manager Nick Davis is hoping his team can get back to winning ways after a poor performance in the 2-2 draw against Daisy Hill on Wednesday.

Davis, who said last week that he would leave Stand at the end of the seasson because they had been refused promotion to the first division, said: "We will take our revenge for Wednesday night out on Padiham. "It is no excuse but we had four first teamers out on Wednesday but they will all be back tomorrow."

Micky Wolstenholme, Steve Davis, Neil Dawes and Steve Carroll will return as Stand search for their 25th win of the season.

Davis confirmed that he would be looking for a new position at the end of the season.

"I will be moving but I don't know where, it depends who comes in for me but I have won four titles in the last four years so hopefully someone will."

And he said the widely-held belief that his success at Stand has been due to the finances of the club was wrong.

"People think I have spent a lot of money at Stand but I haven't," said Davis, whose team are in their first season in the NWCL second division.
