HIGHWAYS chiefs are rolling ahead with their drive to discourage the daily school run and make streets safer.
As part of Bury Council's Safer Routes to Schools programme, street markings and parking restrictions are to be introduced outside 30 more schools in Bury, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom and Tottington.
Restrictions advertised at 30 other schools in February have already been put into place.
The aim is to encourage parents to make streets outside schools safer, with fewer parked cars, by accompanying children on foot.
Transport services manager Peter Schofield said: "The areas around the schools can be really busy, with parked cars, children trying to cross in between them, and moving cars on the road.
"This is the second phase of the scheme, with more to be brought in during the next financial year."
The work will take place in the next few months, with objections to be received by April 12.
The schools are:
(Elton Ward) Elton County Primary School, Guardian Angels RC Primary School, Our Lady of Lourdes RC Primary School, Old Hall County Primary School, Elton High School.
