This week, with NICK HAYES, internet entrepreneur
NICK Hayes, owner of the Dot.Com cybercafe off Parson Lane, Clitheroe, enjoys a spot of retail therapy and loves visiting shops which sell electronic gadgets.
But his favourite place in Lancashire is a base from which he can travel the world, check out luxury yachts and villas and book ferry and air journeys -- the cybercafe.
Nick opens his cafe on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6-9pm for young people aged 11-17 years. The youngsters, whose youth club has closed for the time being due to a shortage of leaders, pay 50p per session and have access to the internet in a scheme funded by Lancashire County Council to keep them amused and off the streets.
Nick said: "People come in here for all sorts of things -- some have found half their holiday and are looking for the other half. We have people who are looking for homes abroad -- we see them for a couple of months, then they disappear.
"I have lots of 'fantasy' links, places that you can only dream of, and you can rent yachts -- I have seen one yacht advertised for sale at $80 million.
"A day out on the web is quite a good idea -- you can plan a holiday, plan the week ahead, look for places to visit."
