LOCAL schoolchildren could be consulted over the future of Clough Mill Playground in Barnoldswick.
Members of the West Craven Committee will be informed on Tuesday of the current poor condition of the site and will be asked to approve remedial action.
The playground, which was constructed in 1987, includes four pieces of equipment and partial safety surfacing due to wear and tear.
Council officers have recommended that all the equipment should be removed as quickly as possible, that £2,545 be made available from West Craven's capital budget and that schools be asked about children's needs. Following these consultations, plans would be submitted to West Craven Committee for consideration.
The site does not currently comply with policy as there is no fencing to prevent access to the adjoining car park or any restraint on dogs entering the play area and to provide a new children's playground would cost an estimated £40,000.
