A DOUBLE-decker bus was struck by a brick thrown by a 13-year-old girl as it was being driven along Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth.
The bricks smashed a near-side ground floor window of the Burnley and Pendle Travel Manchester Mainline X43 service 464 as was being driven past the Jester pub at 6.50pm on Wednesday.
No one was injured but the driver stopped the bus and called the police.
The offender, who was wearing a white top, a short dark skirt was with a group of about four girls and ran off.
A spokesman for Burnley and Pendle Travel said: "A number of children ran in front of the bus and then a girl appears to have thrown a stone or brick through the nearside window of the lower deck of the double decker.
"The bus is fitted with CCTV cameras and we are working in co-operation with the police and if they want the footage we will provide it."
Det Sgt Nikki Bithell said: " Someone could have been seriously injured in this incident. If anyone saw these girls they should contact the CID at Rawtenstall on 01706 237442 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
