PENDLE councillors and local residents paid their own tribute to the Queen Mother, ahead of her funeral today, by attending a special service in Nelson.
Led by Canon Stewart Hartley, the service at St Philip's Church yesterday evening offered time for prayers and hymns, as well as a slient vigil.
The small group of people who attended, which included the Mayor of Pendle, Coun Colin Waite, were also given a candle each which they lit in memory of the Queen Mother, while the church bells rang out throughout the service.
Books of condolences have been signed at Colne Town Hall, Nelson Town Hall and Barnoldswick Town Hall reception areas. A book was also available at the service yesterday.
