PLANS to build a house on land next to West Paddock, in Massey Lane, Brierfield, could be given the go-ahead this week.
A detached house was built on a former lock-up garage site near Massey Lane in 1996 and the bungalow West Paddock was built on a paddock next to it in 1999.
The proposal is to build another house on a 23 metre wide plot between the two, backing on to the railway line.
Letters from residents and the Hawkswood Gardens Residents' Association raised concerns that Massey Street and Lane were too narrow to serve additional development and would result in increased hazard to children using the playground, as well as the possibility of damage to Massey Street, the railway bridge and Massey Lane during construction.
Council planners have recommended the plans for approval and said that one additional house would not significantly affect the congestion or safety on the roads.
