A COMPETITION to find Rossendale's answer to Will Young and Gareth Gates will now begin on April 19.
The first heat for the Valley's pop icon competition will be held at the Swan Hotel, Market Street, Bacup, but entrants do not have to be professional and they don't need to provide their own backing tapes.
Co-organiser and club singer Annette Carl said: "We are looking for that unsung talent, people who can sing and maybe who have not entered competitions before.
"We will give them the chance to fully rehearse and provide backing tracks if needed.
"We are also looking for an original song to be composed for the eventual winner to sing and so if there are any budding song writers they should also get in touch."
Artists aged 14 to 24 are welcome to enter, anyone under 18 will have to be accompanied by an adult to the auditions.
The competition each week until June 22 when a grand final will be held. The winning artist will get the chance to record his or her demo tape at Studio Studio in Whitworth.
Anyone wanting to enter can get an application form from Terry Swan on 01706 876543.
