NELSON got back on the winning trail with a resounding victory in the NWCL Division Two.

The Blues attack was in fine form and but for an outstanding performance by Chadderton keeper Lee Grogan, the home side would have been dead and buried long before half-time.

Grogan denied Carl Howarth with a one handed save after 11 minutes when the in-form striker robbed a hesitant defender before shooting for goal.

Then four minutes later he produced a reaction save to knock away a powerful Kieran Roberts header from just under his crossbar.

As Nelson piled on the pressure, the Chadderton defence struggled to cope and a good build up on the right wing after 26 minutes brought the opening goal, when a cross into the penalty area found Lee Coldridge who fired the ball low past the keeper.

Five minutes later a great end to end move started by Steve Tosney and continued by Coldridge resulted in two great saves by Grogan to deny Andy Howarth and Coldridge.

On 35 minutes, Stuart Mulligan released Andy Howarth on the left wing and his cross found Coldridge's head but Grogan managed to turn his header against the post before clearing.

After the interval, the Blues stull found a second goal elusive and were rocked by a Chadderton equaliser on 67 minutes. A long high free kick into the Nelson goalmouth was headed into the goal by Chris Cotton.

Again Grogan kept Nelson at bay with a great save at the foot of the post to deny Carl Howarth after 78 minutes but he was beaten two minute later when Roberts ran onto Howarth's cross to head home and restore the Blues lead.

On 85 minutes Micky Bartholomew came on as sub and with his first touch set up Nelson's third goal, Coldridge scored after beating Grogan to the ball.
