BRADFORD Park Avenue will be going for the kill tonight - that's what boss Trevor Storton promised.

Stanley can expect a tough first leg of the UniBond League Cup final, as the home side push for goals.

Despite fielding a weakened side, Bradford will be brimming with confidence following a devastating run of form that has seen them bag 13 goals in three games, conceding just one.

"The lads will have confidence in themselves as we have had a decent run," said Storton.

"We will be getting up and at 'em from the off and we will have to see what happens.

"A final is a final and I know that the lads are really going to put in a good performance."

Avenue will be missing suspended winger Dean Calcutt, as well as Micky Thompson and the ineligible Dean Martin and keeper Joel Armstrong.

But Storton is hoping his replacements can give him the performance he is looking for.

"I'd like to think the lads coming in will feel they have something to prove," he added.

"The adrenaline will be flowing, and that sometimes can bring the players up a level.

"The lads will be playing for places for the league run-in and the second leg."

Ian Briggs, on-loan to Thackley, is being draft in for a comeback and is determined to make up for missing most of the season due to work commitments.

Meanwhile, former Accrington defender Martin James is promising a goalfest.

"I tell you what, there will be a few goals scored in the next two games," said the journeyman full-back who joined Accrington after ending a three-year stint in the Football League.

"Both teams like to bang in the goals and have also been known to concede a few.

"There will be no 0-0 draws in these games. It will be a real spectacle for the fans, and we will be hoping for a big crowd at both legs of this final.

"It would be nice to get some silverware this season. It keeps things ticking over and keeps the fans happy."

James, after a career which spanned Preston, Stockport and Rotherham, only lasted four weeks at the Crown Ground.

"There was a dispute over pay," said the 31-year-old.

"I don't think it would be right to go into too much detail, but lets just say it was about pay. So I was off."

James then headed to Leigh RMI before arriving at Horsfall Stadium but harbours no hard feelings against tonight's opponents.

"It is just one of those things that happens in football," he said. "I have nothing to prove to them, nor any revenge to get. But, of course, it would be nice to stuff them."
