COLNE Clarets completed the league and cup double after a five star show against battling Salterforth.

Clarets grabbed two quick goals and Salterforth never recovered despite putting up a courageous fight.

David Blacklock hit the first after a a fine breakaway from Joe Heseltine and Billy Priestley thumped home a second despite a desperate effort by Michael Slevin to keep the ball from crossing the line.

And when keeper Gary Storey dropped the ball at the feet of Billy Priestley to make it 3-0, it appeared that a rout was on the card.

But credit to Salterforth who weathered the storm -- with Stuart Green and Chris Worswick outstanding at the back.

While they never really threatened, Salterforth began to play some good football and the busy Joel Howard and Daniel Richardson linked up well down the left.

However, Colne nearly grabbed a fourth when Danny Rowland thumped a shot against the crossbar before Storey pulled off a great save to tip Helseltine's shot around the post. Salterforth needed an early second half goal to get back in the final but it was Colne who went further ahead when Jack Mansfield volleyed home Chris Bell's deep cross. Storey made another great save to deny Rowland again before Salterforth's defence were caught napping as Blacklock's floated cross travelled unopposed to Thomas Alderman who had time to finish.

Victory was secured but Salterforth were by no means disgraced.
