Well after a fantastic March in which our joint managers of Paul and Chris took all the accolades -- now the wheels have finally come off -- big style.

This weekend we played in the quarter finals of the cup with our expectations running high after a good run of results over the last five or six weeks.

As in Sunday football, you sometimes struggle, depending on how much beer has been drunk the previous night. The omens looked good when we had a full 14 to choose from and not a sign of any of them feeling slightly ill.

The game kicked off and we pressed early, forcing a number of corners, but then all of a sudden it happened -- they attacked.

Three times in ten minutes and yes, three goals. Two goals were schoolboy errors and the other a penalty when the opposing player had already lost the ball.

By half time it was four and our keeper had not touched the ball.

The second half did not start any better, five, then six, and at this point they hadn't even scored a goal of any worth, but to say we had given them five was true.

Then in a ten minute spell we scored three times, to make the score slightly more respectable.

They then scored at the death and the final whistle blew, our season was over and we had been turfed out of the cup 7-3 by a team who we had drawn with only three weeks prior. "Disastrous."

So with only two league games left to play can Ashworth and Hogan keep their jobs by getting the team back on track for the midweek night games -- only time will tell.

Anyway, we will all get sloshed in Chester on Cup Final day and talked about when we were a good side -- but that was a long time ago.
