SPORT Extra is gone but not forgotten.
Welcome to the new generation of local sports coverage -- Grassroots.
It's a new, fresh style with a lot more local news for you to enjoy. We've also introduced a few new features.
Roots Archive is a brief look back at the people and teams making the headlines in the last few years while Unsung Heroes is a feature on those people who have work tirelessly behind the scenes without little recognition. Incidentally, if you know of anyone who deserves their moment of glory then write to Steve Tinniswood, Newspaper House, High Street, Blackburn, BB1 1HT.
A separate word obviously has to go to the Mad Caps Trio who will be forever etched in to this history of Sport Extra.
Of course the new changes mean some things have to go and in fairness I think Mad Caps had probably run its course -- in Sport Extra at least.
It is a sad day for me as well as I enjoyed reading the scribblings of Dickinson, Pollack and Rafferty who, as most of you know, donate their winnings to Children in Need.
I hope they continue to write in and possible adopt another section of our new Grassroots supplement -- the Roots Archive Three possibly.
Or maybe they can just keep on telling me what is wrong with my professional and personal life.
So thanks for all the enjoyment lads and please keep on writing.
