THE funeral of an angler who was found dead in the River Ribble will be held tomorrow.
Peter Ormerod, 50, of Fernlea Drive, Clayton-le-Moors, was found by his son Thomas, 23, on April 2, face down in the water at the rear of the Aspinall Arms, in Mitton, near Clitheroe.
He was a former teacher at Rhyddings and Moorhead high schools and last year had taken up a post as maths and sports teacher at Bowland High School, Grindleton.
A service will be held at All Saints Church, in Clayton-le-Moors, at 11.15am, followed by cremation.
His wife, Gill and three children, Sarah, Thomas and Hannah, have requested family flowers only with any donations given to the family to be passed on to Mr Ormerod's favourite charities.
Mr Ormerod had spent the day fishing after setting out in the morning with his son, of the same address, but Thomas left at about 2pm. He later went to search for his father when he failed to arrive home by 5pm, and found him in the water.
Tributes poured in following Mr Ormerod's death, with former colleagues describing him as a wonderful man. Maurice Graham, headteacher at Bowland High School, said he had brought a 'new lease of life' to the school.
