SPOT OF BOTHER: Bury Health Authority advised parents to keep their children indoors following an outbreak of measles. In one week alone in Bury 46 cases had been reported and there were fears that the number could increase.
AWOL: An army deserter, tired of being on the run, stole a car so he would be caught and returned to his barracks. The 20-year-old Royal Regiment of Fusiliers soldier had been AWOL since January and had been living rough and staying with friends. After being fined by Bury Magistrates for stealing the car, the Fusilier was remanded in custody to away military escort back to his barracks.
GOAL GLUT: Bury's three-match Easter programme ended on Easter Monday with the Shakers moving up two places into a fifth position thanks to a hat-trick of 3-0 wins against Port Vale, Northampton and Lincoln.
