BURY's libraries are turning over a new leaf to give residents the chance of a finding their ideal job.
Adult careers sections will be created in the borough's libraries and staff are to be trained to provide advice to jobhunters or individuals looking for a career change or return back to work.
The move comes after the boroughwide service became one of the first in the country to receive a Certificate of Accreditation to the National Quality Standards for Learning and Work.
Specialist services will also be available at some libraries, ranging from the availability of a wide variety of newspapers and magazines to aid job hunting, to business information resources, visual and hearing impairment units, plus access points for Learn Direct on-line courses.
Bury Council's post-16 and community education spokesman, Councillor Stella Smith, said: "Individuals do not often know who are the best people to turn to in order to adapt old skills or learn new ones.
"But working with Bolton and Bury Information Advice and Guidance group, our libraries will now be provided with an Adult Careers section, supported by visits from Careers Advice and Guidance staff."
Learning support librarian, Christine Almond, added: "The Information Advice and Guidance webpages will be able to offer job adverts, learning opportunities and special features such as templates for creating your own CV on-line."
Anyone requiring further information should contact Christine on 253 7561 or by email at c.almond@bury.gov.uk.
