AFTER training for over 20 years Ju Jitsu instructor Mumtaz Ellahi was recently graded a fourth dan blackbelt.
The 40-year old of Whalley Range said he was very proud of the achievement, "It's taken a lot of hard work and 24 years to get this far and I hope to be an inspiration to others."
The grading ceremony took place before a panel of examiners that included, Martin Dixon, seventh dan, Chairman of the British Ju Jitsu Association and Kenneth Blundell who is also a seventh dan.
Mumtaz runs a successful Ju Jitsu club at Bangor Street Community Centre alongside instructors, Zaffar Iqbal, third can and Asghar Shah, first dan.
The club has trained many students up to blackbelt status and has recently begun to accept female students. The club has had a lot of interest from the Audley Range area and is looking to set up there soon.
